American Heroes Exhibit


This exhibit is dedicated to honoring and preserving the history of Alabama patriots who have served in all branches of the armed forces of the United States of America.  The American Heroes Collection documents valor of veterans from the time of the Revolutionary War to those defending our freedom in current conflicts.

Lt. Colonel Alva N. Temple - Tuskegee Airman Red Tail
Uniform, photos, and memorabilia of Lieutenant Colonel Alva N. Temple, native of Pickens County and member of the famed Tuskegee Airman’s Red Tail unit.
​Uniforms, weaponry, maps, photos, and other service-related memorabilia are showcased.  Take the challenge and see how many of the model WWII era military planes suspended over the exhibit you can correctly identify.

Learn about patriots such as James McRory, buried at Vienna, Alabama, who served as General George Washington’s bodyguard, Lt. Colonel Alva N. Temple a  member of  the Tuskegee Airman's Red Tail unit and Staff Sergeant Tommy Seay Little, who gave his life in Iraq in the War on Terror.
