The week will culminate in a special showcase performance on Friday, where participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate what they’ve learned for family and friends.
Program director and member of the Pickens County Arts Guild Ginger Richardson says the organization is proud to sponsor the workshop and encourages youth throughout the area to engage in the exciting opportunity.
“Theater is such a powerful tool for children,” said Richardson. “It builds confidence, fosters creativity, and helps young people develop important communication and teamwork skills.”
According to Americans for Arts, students involved in the arts tend to perform better academically, with higher GPAs, test scores, and college enrollment rates. Beyond academics, theater enhances creative thinking and problem-solving skills, exposing children to different cultures and perspectives. Theater also strengthens social skills and offers a fun way for students to get involved in their communities from a young age.
“Whether they’ve always had an interest in performing or just want to have fun and try something new, this workshop will be a great way for students of all ages to discover, develop, and showcase their talents,” added Richardson. “We are thrilled to bring this program to Pickens County.”
